To the Stars
The world premiere of “On the Far Side”
Under the theme “To the Stars”, the Clariphonics Soloists – a smaller ensemble made up of members of Fulda’s extraordinary clarinet choir – invite you to the opening concert of this year’s Art Week in Kleinsassen.
The concert is a collaboration between Kunststation Kleinsassen, the Fulda District Music School, and the Rhön UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The occasion is that this year’s Art Week coincides with the Star Park Weeks.
Bruce Edwards, Jens Frohnapfel, Bettina Hüttl, David Weber, and Stefan Leinweber perform music by Gustav Holst, Mozart, Beethoven, and others on clarinets of various types and in various ensembles.
A special highlight of the program, however, is the world premiere of the new composition “On the Far Side” by Fulda-based composer D. A. Edwards. The work consists of nine miniatures for clarinet trio and was composed immediately after the Artemis II crew’s lunar flyby of the moon on April 7 2026, after it was announced that the concert would take place as part of the Star Park Weeks.
The piece is inspired by the photographs taken by the astronauts during their lunar flyby and is dedicated to NASA, ESA, and the four crew members: Victor Glover, Christina Koch, Jeremy Hansen, and Reid Wiseman.
