Timbular was composed in February 2017 and is dedicated to the Clariphonics clarinet choir. It was first performed by seven members of this group on January 28th, 2018 in Fulda, Germany.
The title “Timbular” is a fusion of two words: Timber and triangular. “Triangular” comes from the composition’s meter – it is written in ¾ time and the three beats may resemble the three end points and sides of a triangle. “Timber” corresponds with the pictures of trees in a forest triggered in my mind when I was composing this piece.
